The United States will withdraw troops from its Camp Arifjan base in Kuwait, KUNA reported on Wednesday, citing Kuwaiti government sources.

The withdrawal will take place by the end of the week, according to a letter the US sent to Kuwait's Defense Minister Ahmad Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Camp Arifjan currently hosts the US military as well as forces from the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Romania and Poland.

The US move comes after Iran attacked its troops in two military bases in Iraq earlier in the day in the aftermath of the attack on Iranian military official Qassem Soleimani. Meanwhile, Iraq's parliament asked US troops to leave their country.
