The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) stated on Saturday that one of its warships in the Red Sea downed 14 drones fired by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.

"In the early morning hours of December 16, the USS Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS CARNEY (DDG 64), operating in the Red Sea, successfully engaged 14 unmanned aerial systems," the army said on X.

These drones, identified as one-way attack units, were effectively neutralized without damage to nearby vessels. The CENTCOM statement also noted that regional partners in the Red Sea had been alerted to the potential threat.
