Wholesale inventories in the United States observed a monthly decline of 0.1% in April to land at $915.7 billion, a very slight improvement to analysts' expectations, the US Census Bureau said in its report published on Thursday. On an annual basis, the figure advanced by 6.3%.
Sales of merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers' sales branches and offices, after adjustment for seasonal variations and trading-day differences but not for price changes, rose by 0.2% compared to March to reach $652.6 billion. On the other hand, they decreased by 3.4% year-on-year.
The inventories/sales ratio for merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers' sales branches and offices, based on seasonally adjusted data, came in at 1.40. In April 2022, the figure was at 1.27.
