The United States welcomed the announcement by the European Union that clarified rules on the restriction of the transit of goods from Russia to Kaliningrad, while noting that the "blockade" of transit never existed, State Department spokesperson Ned Price revealed in a statement on Wednesday.
The State Department spokesperson explained that passengers, as well as goods and humanitarian shipments, could easily move using various routes between mainland Russia and Kaliningrad.
"We applaud European Union member states, including Lithuania, for enforcing sanctions measures fully in accordance with EU guidance," the spokesperson said, stressing the importance of the measures against Moscow as a response to the war in Ukraine.
