United States National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stressed during a meeting with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant held on Wednesday the importance of de-escalating the tensions in the West Bank, as well as between the latter country and Lebanon.
According to the White House's statement, Sullivan "reaffirmed the United States' ironclad commitment to Israel’s security, including in the face of threats from Iranian-backed terrorist groups such as Lebanese Hezbollah." He also urged Israel to increase its efforts to deliver the needed humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, Gallant insisted the two countries achieved "significant progress" concerning the US's deliveries of weapons to Israel.
