United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai (pictured) said that the United States-Mexico-Canda Agreement (USMCA) has helped the North American economy compete with China.

"This is really the cutting edge of trade policy, and the pieces of this agreement have been put together with the current global economic situation in mind," said Tai during a press conference commemorating the anniversary of the deal taking effect.

The agreement was negotiated in 2018 by the former administration to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which former President Donald Trump called the "worst trade deal any nation ever had."
