Ukrainian Ground Forces Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi said in a statement on Monday, posted on the Ukrainian Military Media Center's Telegram, that the country's troops managed to push Russia out of certain parts of Bakhmut during a counteroffensive.
Syrskyi reaffirmed that "intense fighting" is still taking place in the area. However, despite Russia's numerous attacks, "enemy's attempts to capture our positions were unsuccessful," he noted.
The commander shared that even though the other side has been taking "heavy losses," they seem to be "constantly throwing" their soldiers into battle. Nonetheless, the Russian army has not been able to "take control of the city," he concluded.
