The Ukrainian commander of the Kharkiv Operational Tactical Group (OTU), Yuriy Galushkin, was removed from the position, RBC-Ukraine reported on Monday citing military spokesperson, Nazar Voloshyn.
According to the media outlet, Mykhailo Drapatyi was chosen to take his place. Drapatyi will still be serving as the deputy chief of the General Staff.
The change comes amidst Russian forces carrying out intensive operations in the region. "The situation is difficult, but the defense forces of Ukraine are doing everything to hold defensive lines and positions, and inflict damage on the enemy," Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky said.
