Ukrainian Ground Forces Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the Russian army has switched to using "Syrian scorched earth tactics" in their attacks on Bakhmut, Ukrainian Military Media Center revealed on Monday in a Telegram post.
As the Ukrainian soldiers have managed to "exhaust" the Wagner Group mercenaries, "the enemy is now forced to involve special forces and airborne assault units in the battles for Bakhmut," Syrskyi commented, adding that Moscow is focusing on destroying infrastructure through air strikes and artillery fire.
Syrskyi underlined that the fighting is "fierce on both sides." He further said that although the situation in the area remains difficult, it is still "under control."
