Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) announced on Thursday that a Polish citizen suspected of proposing to Moscow the assassination of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been arrested following a joint operation by Ukrainian and Polish law enforcement.
According to the SBU, the Polish man intended to spy on the security of the Polish international airport "Rzeszow Ulma" to assist Russian intelligence services in potentially plotting the assassination of Zelensky during his visit to Poland. Namely, Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office initially notified Warwaw about a possible assassination attempt and provided key evidence.
The suspect was charged with working for foreign intelligence services. "This case is yet another evidence that Russia is a threat not only to Ukraine and Ukrainians but also to the entire free world. The Kremlin's criminal regime is constantly trying to undermine European and global security," Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin.
