United Airlines Inc. revealed on Monday that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) greenlighted its first Starlink-equipped aircraft type.

In a press release, the company said the FAA issued a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the carrier's Embraer 175. United further said that the first commercial flight with Starlink-provided WiFi services is expected to be carried out in May. Additionally, the airline anticipates that the regional two-cabin fleet, consisting of more than 300 aircraft, will have this new technology installed by the end of the year.

"We know customers are going to love this experience, and we think it will give them yet another reason to choose United," United's Vice President of Digital Technology Grant Milstead commented.
