United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met in London on Thursday to discuss multiple issues, including defense and security, energy security and migration.
Von der Leyen noted Ukraine will be on the agenda, stressing the EU is "supportive" of the peace efforts but maintains that Ukraine's sovereignty is "non-negotiable." She also noted that Europe as a whole has to "step up" its defense and noted she plans to discuss a bilateral defense partnership agreement with Starmer.
Meanwhile, Starmer noted that the two sides are "aligned on vital issues," including Ukraine, trade and economy and added they are "committed to reset" the EU-UK relationship.
