European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she spoke with United States President Donald Trump about trade talks.
She called it a "good call" and emphasized the bloc's readiness to act "swiftly and decisively." Von der Leyen added that the European Union would need until July 9 to finalize a deal, calling the EU-US trade relationship "the world's most consequential."
Her comments come as the two sides work to avoid new tariffs and settle differences.
