European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday expressed the European Union's support to the war-torn country, underscoring that the bloc's goal this year is to train 30,000 Ukrainian troops.
"The European Union has already delivered €12 billion-worth of military equipment so far, in parallel we will continue training Ukrainian soldiers," the European Commission chief stated.
"We have also strongly aligned our successive packages of sanctions against Russia together with our G7 partners," von der Leyen said at the joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. "Sanctions are biting deep and hard," she stressed.
