Volkswagen AG fired Head of Design Klaus Zyciora, who has been at the company since 1989 and assumed the head of design role in 2007, Handelsblatt reported on Wednesday citing company sources.
According to the report, Zyciora will be replaced by Porsche's Chief Designer Michael Mauer, who is set to take over on January 1. Mauer will report directly to the company CEO Oliver Blume.
The report also noted that Blume has been criticizing the lack of a common design language at the Volkswagen brand, stressing different models were not designed "as one."
