Austria's President Alexander Van der Bellen stated on Saturday in front of reporters that the country saw a "disturbing" moral picture and that Austria needs a trustworthy government.
"We need a rebuilding of the trust and that is only possible with new elections," the president said after Chancellor Sebastian Kurz called for elections as soon as possible following the resignation of Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache.
Van der Bellen and Kurz are set to meet on Sunday to clarify the next steps.
