Venezuelan opposition presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez (pictured) took to social media to ask the country's President Nicolas Maduro to "step aside," AFP reported.
Gonzalez, who claimed he defeated Maduro in Venezuela's contested presidential election, said that the incumbent should "respect what all Venezuelans have decided," adding that he is "ready for dialogue."
Gonzalez's victory in the election has been supported by the United States, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken previously stating that his victory "is clear."
