Venezuela's Foreign Minister Yvan Gil congratulated on Wednesday on behalf of his country's government the United States President-elect Donald Trump on his election victory, stating that Caracas is willing to build good relations with the incoming administration.
"The recognition of sovereignty and people's self-determination are fundamental for the construction of a new world, where balance among the free nations prevails," the government said in a statement.
In addition, the government in Caracas stressed that the Venezuelan people "share historic ties" with the people in the United States, adding that "there is no room for war."
