French Minister Delegate for Democratic Renewal and Government Spokesperson Olivier Veran (pictured) said on Friday that France is ''at the peak of inflation'' at the moment.

However, Veran also added he expects it will decline in 2023, when it will become more ''bearable,'' even though the prices will remain high over time. The French politician noted the government is not increasing taxes and stressed that the main reasons for the economic problems are the war in Ukraine and the subsequent transportation problems.

On the other hand, Veran stated that government must not only think of the needs of its citizens when it comes to the introduced limitations on gas and electricity prices, but it must also focus on ''the economy of France.'' ''There will be choices to be made,'' he warned.
