German Formula One driver Sebastian Vettel of Aston Martin formally retired on Sunday after the last race of the season ended.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was won by Max Verstappen, and the four-time World Champion finished 10th, scoring a point in the last drive of his professional carrier.

"I enjoyed the race, once the lights go off it was full-on race mode," Vettel said. "I'm sure I'm going to miss this more than I can think of. I don't have much more to say," he noted, admitting that he felt "empty" once the race came to a halt.

"I want the other drivers to carry on the good work, I think there are far bigger and far more important things than racing in circles," Vattel concluded.
