A volcano located in southwestern Iceland erupted on Wednesday, local media and live video from the area showed.
The Icelandic Metheoroligal Center warned in a note that the eruption had started near Sundhnukur, north of Grindavik. Besides, the lava fountains are up to 50 meters high, and the fissure "seems to be around one kilometer long and growing."
Several tremors were recorded in the area prior to the eruption, with Icelandic media reporting more than 70 tremors.
