The Volkswagen Group said on Friday that it delivered 2.2 million vehicles to customers in the third quarter of 2024. The figure marks a 7.1% decline compared to the same period in 2023. Deliveries of all-electric vehicles (BEVs) slid 9.8% on an annual basis, amounting to 189,400 units in the third trimester of this year.
The drop was driven by deliveries in China plunging 15% and those in the rest of the Asia-Pacific region plummeting 23.4%. Deliveries in Western Europe fell 7%. On the other hand, the fall was partially offset by deliveries in the Americas as South American deliveries climbed 13.4% and North American deliveries rose 6.4%.
For the first nine months of the year, the carmaker's deliveries declined 2.8% year on year to 6.5 million units, with the company citing a "challenging" market environment.
