Volkswagen to set up first North American EV battery factory

Volkswagen (VW) Group announced on Monday that it has chosen Ontario, Canada, as a place to construct its first North American electric vehicle (EV) battery factory.

"With the decisions for cell production in Canada and a Scout site in South Carolina we’re fast-forwarding the execution of our North American strategy," CEO Oliver Blume shared in a statement.

The company noted that the operations in the plant are expected to commence in 2027.
