European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met on Saturday to discuss what they described as Russia's military buildup in and around Ukraine.
Von der Leyen further labeled the matter an issue "of importance for European security" and the relationship between the European Union and NATO as "essential for peace and stability" on the Old Continent.
Earlier this week, Stoltenberg remarked that NATO is "preparing for Russia's aggression against Ukraine" in case the group's forthcoming negotiations with Moscow fell through.
