European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen asserted on Monday that the European Union's energy supplies will be safe during the winter.
During the Commission's conference about the 2023 energy outlook, Von der Leyen warned that the bloc could face a potential lack of nearly 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas next year and urged EU member states to adopt Brussels' proposals to ensure energy security.
The EU previously agreed on introducing a price cap on the imports of Russian oil that went into effect a week ago. EU countries are still negotiating a potential cap on gas prices, with the Commission hopeful a consensus will be reached by the end of this year.
