White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed reports from local media outlets stating that the additional 50% duties on Chinese imports will be implemented starting tomorrow, bringing the total tariff rate against Beijing to 104%.

"It was a mistake for China to retaliate. The president, when America is punched, he punches back harder. That's why there will be 104% tariffs going into effect on China tonight at midnight." Leavitt elaborated. "If China reaches out to make a deal he will be incredibly gracious."

US President Donald Trump issued a warning on Monday that he would escalate current Chinese tariffs by 50% on Wednesday if Beijing failed to remove its 34% reciprocal taxes on American products by today.
