White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt insisted on Tuesday that "no classified material was sent" in the chat where a journalist was mistakenly invited to join the thread.

"Jeffrey Goldberg is well-known for his sensationalist spin ... No 'war plans' were discussed," Leavitt stressed in a statement posted on X, repeating that the White House is currently looking into how the journalist's number was "inadvertently added."

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth previously issued a similar statement, labelling Goldberg as a "deceitful and highly discredited" journalist.
