United States National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said on Monday that the White House will be looking for "specific outcomes" from this week's high-level meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden.
Sullivan told reports that the topics of the discussions are expected to include fighting the illegal fentanyl trade and other areas where the competition between the two countries could be managed effectively, especially restoring military-to-military communication.
The two leaders will also talk about the conflicts in eastern Europe and in the Middle East, according to Sullivan, who added that Biden will tell Xi that Iran escalating tensions is not in the interest of China.
