United States President Joe Biden and his Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris discussed the "next steps in the ongoing effort to secure the release of hostages" held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip with the US negotiating team, the White House said in a press release on Monday.

According to the White House, Biden voiced "his devastation and outrage at the murder" of six hostages, including a US citizen, whose bodies were found over the weekend by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Earlier, the US president said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not putting enough effort into securing a ceasefire and hostage agreement.
