United States President Joe Biden will welcome Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) leaders in the White House on September 25, as part of the second PIF Summit, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement released on Tuesday.
Furthermore, Jean-Pierre stressed that Biden will reiterate "the U.S. commitment to our shared regional priorities and deepening our cooperation around them – including tackling the climate crisis; advancing economic growth; promoting sustainable development; strengthening health security; countering illegal, unreported fishing; and expanding our people-to-people ties."
According to the statement, the president will also be open to considering proposals and ideas from PIF leaders that could help strengthen ties between the US and the Pacific Islands region.
