White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre pointed out on Monday that reports of Israel aiming to implement a ban on the Arabic news outlet Al-Jazeera were "deeply concerning."

"If reports are true, it is deeply concerning that Israel plans to shut down Al Jazeera," Jean-Pierre said. "The United States plans to reach out to Israel for more information on this." She further emphasized the importance of free and independent media.

Earlier, the Israeli Knesset approved the aforementioned ban, giving the government the power to close offices of foreign channels in Israel. "The terrorist Al Jazeera will no longer broadcast from Israel," the parliament added.
