WH: State Dept handling war crime investigation on Russia

White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre shared on Thursday, during a press briefing, that the US State Department is handling the process of determining whether Russia committed war crimes on the territory of Ukraine.

"The President [of the United States Joe Biden] has been very clear in calling it a war crime and that is something he believes," Jean-Pierre stated adding however that the Biden Administration "will leave it to the State Department to go through the legal process."

Earlier, the US accused Russian forces of committing war crimes during the special military operation in Ukraine, with the head of state directly calling Russian President Vladimir Putin a war criminal.
