White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt denied on Tuesday that United States President Donald Trump had called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to strike Moscow and St. Petersburg, contrary to a report from the Financial Times.
"The Financial Times is infamous for widely taking words out of context in order to increase viewership as their newspaper dies. [US] President [Donald] Trump merely asked a question, not encouraging further killings," Leavitt told Fox News. She added that the US president "works tirelessly" to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Earlier today, the Financial Times published a report saying that Trump had asked Zelensky during their recent conversation if Ukraine "can hit" Moscow and St. Petersburg.
