White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said during an appearance on Fox News on Monday that United States President Donald Trump "stands behind" his Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth amid the latest reports about him discussing military plans in a Signal chat with his family.
The comments come after The New York Times claimed that the Pentagon chief shared detailed plans on military operations against Yemen-based Houthis in a group chat that included his wife, brother, and lawyer.
Hegseth's spokesperson Sean Parnell insisted the defense secretary did not share any classified information and slammed the New York Times and other "fake news" outlets for repeating "their garbage," insisting they only rely "on the words of people who were fired this week and appear to have a motive to sabotage the Secretary and the President's agenda."
