The United States National Security Council's Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby declared on Friday that the US military shot down another object flying over Alaska that had previously been tracked in the last 24 hours.
According to Kirby, the object was located at an altitude of 40,000 feet and "posed a reasonable threat" to civilian flights. "Out of an abundance of caution and on the recommendation of the Pentagon, President Biden ordered the military to down the object and they did," Kirby noted, specifying that the incident happened within the last hour.
He added that further details, including the origin of the object, are not yet known, but that it fell in the frozen American territorial waters and is "roughly the size of a small car."
