White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Wednesday during a press briefing that the United States had nothing to do with the death of the Islamic State's leader Abu al-Hasan al-Hashimi al-Qurashi.

Nonetheless, Jean-Pierre underlined, echoing US National Security Council chief spokesman John Kirby's words, that Washington is "pleased to see the removal of ISIS' top leaders in such quick succession."

She concluded by saying that the US continues to stay committed to "countering the global threat from ISIS and stands ready to work with the international actors who share the same goal."
