White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stressed on Tuesday during a press conference that the United States' position toward China remains the same and focused on "competition, not conflict."
"We believe we are well prepared to outcompete China and protect our national security," she said in response to the question on the possibility of the Cold War with China turning into a "hot war."
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang slammed the US and its "hysteria" for what he described as the worsening of the relations between the two countries.
