Major indexes on Wall Street closed with gains on Tuesday despite the latest escalation of the conflict in Ukraine. Russia conducted a series of missile strikes across the war-torn country with two rockets reportedly landing in Poland. Moscow has dismissed claims about it carrying out any strikes near the Polish border, calling the incident a "deliberate provocation," while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky insisted Russia was behind the attack, which he branded a "significant escalation."
The Dow Jones added 0.17%. The best performer was Walmart, whose shares rallied 6.54% after the company reported better-than-expected quarterly earnings.
The Nasdaq 100 jumped 1.45%. Datadog, up 10.22%, led the gains.
The S&P 500 rose 0.87% with SVB Financial Group surging 9.18%.
The euro traded flat against the dollar, going for 1.03549 at 4:01 pm ET.
