Wall Street closes lower as tech sector leads losses

Major equities on Wall Street closed with significant losses on Friday with tech stocks pulling the sentiment down after the holiday break.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 0.77% or 333 points at the closing bell. Nvidia Corporation fell 2.03%. The Nasdaq 100 sank 1.36% as Tesla Inc. dropped 4.95%. The S&P 500 plummeted 1.10% with Super Micro Computer Inc. tumbling 5.17%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar, selling at 1.04253.
