Wall Street closes muted as earnings season heats up

Major stock markets in New York closed Friday's session slightly in the green territory as investors looked toward the next week's batch of first-quarter corporate earnings results. Tech giants Microsoft, Meta Platforms, Amazon, Google parent Alphabet, and Intel are all set to release their financial reports in the upcoming days.

The Dow Jones gained 0.07% at the closing bell, with P&G jumping 3.46% after posting its earnings results. The Nasdaq 100 rose 0.11%, as CSX Corp. surged 3.28%. The S&P 500 climbed by 0.09%, led by Baxter International's 4.72% surge. The euro added 0.14% against the dollar to sell for 1.09860 at 3:56 pm ET.
