The prices of precious metals went down on Friday amid the war in Ukraine and the beginning of referendums in four of its regions. At the same time, the latest economic data point out high inflation and growing interest rates in the United States and other parts of the world, sparking the fear of a possible recession across the globe.
Gold decreased by 1.48% to sell for $1,646.62 per ounce at 1:08 pm ET. Silver was down by 3.75%, going for $18.90 per ounce a minute later. Platinum dropped by 4.27%, selling for $865.29 per ounce at 1:10 pm ET. Palladium slipped by 4.67% to go for $2,065.80 per ounce at the same time.
