Wall Street opens lower, monetary policy in focus

Major United States stock exchanges traded with losses at the open on Tuesday as investors seemingly readjusted their bets on interest rate cuts amid strong economic reports. Tomorrow, the Federal Reserve will be announcing its latest monetary policy move.

In business, Alphabet and Microsoft, alongside AMD, Mondelez, and Starbucks, will all be sharing their quarterly financial results after the closing bell. Meanwhile, GM, Pfizer, and UPS already unveiled their earnings prints.

The Dow Jones traded 0.09% lower at the open, as Boeing declined 1.06% at 9:31 am ET. The Nasdaq 100 opened the session with a 0.23% loss, with Baker Hughes flopping 4.30% at 9:31 am ET. At the opening bell, the S&P 500 slipped 0.11%, as Schlumberger dropped 9.52% at 9:31 am ET.

The euro traded 0.15% above the dollar, going for 1.08480 at 9:29 am ET.
