Walmart debuts Walmart+ Assist

EPA-EFE/LARRY W. SMITH

Walmart Inc. announced on Thursday in a statement that it is launching Walmart+ Assist, a program that offers 50% off a monthly or annual Walmart+ paid membership plan to customers on government assistance.

With immediate effect, instead of paying the full price of Walmart+, which costs $98 for a yearly subscription and $12.95 for a monthly one, the members who qualify for the program will now be able to pay $49 a year or $6.47 a month.

"Walmart+ Assist was designed to do exactly what’s in the name: assist those who need it most. We’re making it easier and more accessible for government-assisted customers to become members and take advantage of the full suite of savings Walmart+ has to offer them," the retailer said.
