China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi reminded the United States on Friday that the "wheels of history cannot be reversed," denouncing Washington for "unilateral bullying" in light of the ongoing trade war between the two nations.

"Given that the United States is wielding the tariff stick recently, it is blatantly putting its own interests above the common interests of all countries and ignoring the multilateral trading system and established rules," Wang stated during a meeting with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi, according to Xinhua.

He reiterated Beijing's commitment to defending China's "legitimate rights and interests" as well as those of the international community to ensure "that humanity is not dragged back into a jungle world where might makes right."
