Waymo LLC said on Tuesday it began expanding its autonomous ride-hailing service starting today to more cities across the Bay Area, including Brisbane, South San Francisco, San Bruno, Millbrae, and Burlingame. In Silicon Valley, the service now reaches additional zones in Palo Alto and Menlo Park.

Starting Wednesday, Waymo will also roll out in more neighborhoods of Los Angeles, such as Playa del Rey, Ladera Heights, Echo Park, Silver Lake, and along the full length of Sunset Boulevard.

This expansion follows a late-May announcement by Waymo LLC that it had secured approval from California's Public Utilities Commission to extend its driverless operations in the San Francisco Bay Area, including "nearly all" of San Jose.
