Ukraine's Western allies are campaigning for a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for Ukraine, the Financial Times reported on Friday. The size of the loan is expected to be between $14 billion and $16 billion, officials familiar with the matter said.
Sources added the allies are planning to discuss the details of the package with the Ukrainian government in mid-February and to present it to the IMF in the spring. European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis told the FT that "these are not circumstances in which the IMF would normally lend," so a green light from the organization could "trigger further donor support."
