Chinese President Xi Jinping will likely pay an official state visit to Russia next year, RIA Novosti cited Russian Ambassador to Beijing Igor Morgulov.
"In order of priority, next year a state visit to Russia by the President of the PRC should be organized, which, most likely, will take place, as one might assume, after the completion of the sessions of the Chinese parliament, traditionally held in early spring," the envoy explained. The Chinese president is expected to meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to discuss the bilateral relations between the two countries, according to the diplomat.
The two leaders last met at Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Uzbekistan in September, agreeing to deepen bilateral defense cooperation as well as conduct more joint military exercises.
