Xi, Putin vow to strengthen N. Korea ties

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin said Beijing and Moscow are committed to expanding cooperation and friendly relations between their countries and North Korea.

Xi and Putin personally congratulated North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un in a message on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the establishment of the country's current regime.

The Chinese president vowed to expand the "strategic communication" with Pyongyang whereas Russia's leader said that the relations with North Korea are already at "a high level" while adding that he is "certain" the "comprehensive" partnership between the two nations will continue to strengthen in the future.
