Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a meeting with his French and European Commission counterparts, Emmanuel Macron and Ursula von der Leyen, respectively, that his country and the European Union share a cooperation that is "mutually beneficial in its essence."
Speaking with the two during their gathering in Paris, Xi insisted that the danger of China's production reaching an "overcapacity problem" does not exist when compared either to the EU's output or the global. Moreover, he insisted Beijing is not engaged in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Furthermore, Xi offered the bloc to create a platform that would strive for a peaceful solution to the crisis in the Middle East.
Previously, von der Leyen warned that "[t]he world cannot absorb China's surplus production" and the EU "cannot accept the market-distorting practices."
