Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Thursday that Beijing wants to continue to strengthen ties with Europe and stressed the two sides do not have any strategic conflicts.
After meeting with European Council President Charles Michel, Xi insisted China "does not want to seek hegemony or export systems" and supports Europe's strategic autonomy. He added that his country opposes any kind of a "new cold war."
The Chinese president also expressed hope that European institutions will "establish an objective and correct perception of China" and provide a "fair and transparent" business environment for Chinese companies. He added the two sides should "jointly ensure safety, stability, reliability of industrial supply chains."
